Best For
Non-designers and busy professionals who need to create visually polished presentations and documents from a simple idea, fast.
Key Features
- ✓AI-Prompt to Deck
I tested this daily. Type a topic like 'Q4 Marketing Strategy,' and Gamma builds a structured, designed presentation in seconds. It's my starting point for everything.
- ✓Smart Templates
In my experience, these aren't just static layouts. They're intelligent frameworks that adapt your text and media, ensuring a cohesive design every time.
- ✓One-Click Reskin
What surprised me was how powerful this is. Instantly change the entire theme, fonts, and colors of a deck without breaking the layout. A huge time-saver.
- ✓Live Collaboration
Multiple users can edit a deck simultaneously, with live cursors. I find it smoother for real-time brainstorming than PowerPoint Online.
- ✓Embed Anything
You can embed live websites, Figma prototypes, YouTube videos, and data charts directly into cards. This makes decks feel interactive, not static.
- ✓AI Content Rewriting
Highlight any text block and use AI to shorten, expand, or change the tone. I use this constantly to refine on-the-fly during edits.
- ✓Flexible Card-Based Layout
Forget rigid slides. Content lives on resizable, movable cards. This freedom is what makes Gamma feel more like a webpage builder for presentations.
- ✓Presenter View
Includes speaker notes, timer, and upcoming slide preview. It's reliable and clean, though I wish it had more remote control options.
- ✓One-Click Publishing
Publish any deck as a responsive, navigable webpage with a custom link. This is a game-changer for sharing with people who hate downloading files.
- ✓Analytics Dashboard
Pro feature. See how many views your published deck gets and which sections are most engaging. Essential for client or stakeholder reports.
- ✓Brand Kits (Pro)
Upload your logos, fonts, and color palette to apply brand consistency across all decks automatically. A must for any professional team.
- ✓Export to PDF/PPTX
You can export, but be warned: the magic often breaks. Complex layouts flatten. I only export as a last resort for strict PPT environments.
Tips & Tricks
Start with a detailed prompt. 'Create a 10-slide deck on SaaS onboarding best practices for product managers' yields better results than 'onboarding deck.'
Use the '/' command in text boxes to quickly add embeds, dividers, buttons, or AI-generated images without leaving the keyboard.
Don't fight the template initially. Let Gamma build the structure, then use 'Reskin' and manual card edits to customize. It's faster.
For client work, use the 'Private' publishing setting and the analytics dashboard to track their engagement before the meeting.
Embed live Google Sheets or Airtable bases. When you update the source, the data in your Gamma deck updates automatically—huge for recurring reports.
Limitations
- -Export to PowerPoint often breaks the layout, forcing tedious reformatting. It's not a true PowerPoint replacement for strict corporate workflows.
- -Limited animation and transition options. If you rely on complex builds for storytelling, Gamma will feel restrictive.
- -The AI image generator is basic. I always use Midjourney or DALL-E 3 and embed the results instead.
- -Offline editing is not possible. You need a constant internet connection to create and edit your decks.
